Along came a spider...
Our Walton & Weybridge reporter Mark Goode put the frighteners on the office arachnophobes when he brought in a 'mini tarrantula' on Friday.
He'd heard how the eight-legged 'beast', described as "yellow", had turned up on the doorstep of 66-year-old Margaret Capel, in Felix Road, Walton, giving her a shock.
Nevertheless she trapped it in a box on her windowsill in the hopes it will bring good luck.
After speaking to Mrs Capel, Mark and news editor Natalie started imagining a large yellow creepy crawly that had undoubtedly sneaked into the country from the wilds of Africa, probably in a crate of exotic fruit.
So it was all a little anticlimatic when Mark brought it back to the office (on short loan from Mrs Capel) and it was revealed to be a fairly common garden spider and no bigger than a two pence piece.
What the spider made of his trip to the newsroom we'll never know. But hopefully he or she is pleased to be getting a mention on 'the web'.
